Join the Chemung Valley Audubon Society in a Sat. Nov. 28 walk along the Chemung River in downtown Elmira looking for ducks and hawks.
Bring binoculars to look for wintering water birds and birds of hawks and eagles that live along or hunt on the river.
You don’t need binoculars to enjoy the river’s beauty.
Meet at 8 a.m. in the parking lot adjacent the Elmira Water Board office on Water St. in downtown Elmira.

The field trip will travel to Franklin Mountain Hawk Watch near Oneonta. It’s a great location to see migrating Red-tailed Hawks, Golden Eagles, and many other hawks and birds. We will meet at the Dandy Mini-Mart 908 East Church St in Elmira, and carpool from there at 7 AM. Bring lunch and dress very warm. It can be cold on top of the mountain. If there is rain in the forecast we will do a local trip at The Center in Horseheads Marsh. We plan to return to Elmira by 6 PM.
