RAGGED SOLE
What a rockin weekend this was! And this group is one of the best…personality, music….they got it! The crowd at Watkins was lucky to hear the great music that came from them when they opened for the Presidents of the United States Saturday night. We only wish they could have played longer!
Featured at Saturday night’s Red Cat Stage in Watkins is Ragged Sole, back to bring everyone to their feet. This high energy band performs music from artists such as Blink 182, Green Day, 3 Doors Down…the “new breed rock”!
How did they get together? A phone call from a chance meeting is how Ragged Sole has come together. Shawn met Brad a few years ago at a party, and jammed a bit. When the time came to put together a party band, Shawn made the call, and Brad gave it a shot. Don hooked up with Shawn and Brad, and Mike came along a few months later. After three years and some great gigs, Mike has chosen to take a shot with local up and coming Gun Poets. Another experienced musician, Jeff Howell helped us out as a substitute but the chemistry was there and it became clear that this IS the new guy Ragged Sole wants holding down the low end. Officially confirmed in February 2009, Jeff is now part of the Sole and we couldn’t be happier. Outstanding musical talent, crisp vocals and harmonies and a true spirit of performance define this experienced bass man.

The Town Pants are a Vancouver, Canada based band that combines aspects of Irish traditional, acoustic pop, roots Americana, even Australian and Mexican influences, to create their own unique brand of “West Coast Celtic.” The music of The Town Pants remains in the heart and head long after it stops. The Keogh brothers, Dave and Duane lead the band in vocals and instrumentation with banjo and acoustic guitar, teamed with Aaron Chapman on tin whistle, harmonica and vocals, and fiddle maven Virginia Schwartz, who weaves a fiery thread through the songs. Together they generate a rare blend of passion, energy, animation and spirit. With the added musical touch of a hand percussionist and bass player, The Town Pants are unsurpassed with their fast-paced West Coast Celtic style.
