River Friends Plans Eco-Recreation Trips For Summer 2009
June 27: 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Canoe or kayak from Bottcher’s Landing in Big Flats to the Grove Street boat launch in Elmira. Educational presentation: Bald eagles and other raptors that live and nest along the river, presented by Jim Pfiffer, director of River Friends. Includes a live riverside visit with Icky, a broad-winged hawk, presented by Ian McLaughlin, naturalist at Tanglewood Nature Center and Museum in Big Flats. The fee is $10 per boat in advance and $13 per boat on June 27. Limited to 20 boats.
